From my point of view the only reasonable thing to do, is merging the french Ryzom wiki (http://fr.encyclopatys.org) with the wikis we have now for en/de and commons. Doing so should not really affect the current system, except for the interwiki language links on the sidebar. However the following points should be clarified:

* Do we want this?

** A: Do we move the wiki to our server like we did with german wiki?
 +
** B: The wiki may be left where it is now and only crosslinking is done. (known flaws: wiki needs to be upgraded from 1.04 to 1.15, user databases can't be easily unified when using this way)
 +
* Who do we contact on the french wiki? It seems abandoned for quite a while now...
 +
* We need someone from the french community to act as admin, since nobody here seems to speak any french at all. Who could that be?
 +
* What happens to user accounts registered on the french wiki? Keep them? Maybe delete them and enforce reregistration since the accounts haven't been used in quite a while. (what happens to user pages?)

* Eventually move the images from french wiki to commons too?

From a technical point of view I'd love to do this. So nobody has to bother with that then :) --[[User:SirCotare|SirCotare]] 15:51, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

French Wiki

I know, this might be subject to heavy discussions. For now, this topic might be postponed since there is enough work to do (as a result of the commons and de/en wiki merge). However this topic will have to be elaborated at some time.

From my point of view the only reasonable thing to do, is merging the french Ryzom wiki (http://fr.encyclopatys.org) with the wikis we have now for en/de and commons. Doing so should not really affect the current system, except for the interwiki language links on the sidebar. However the following points should be clarified:

  • Do we want this?
    • A: Do we move the wiki to our server like we did with german wiki?
    • B: The wiki may be left where it is now and only crosslinking is done. (known flaws: wiki needs to be upgraded from 1.04 to 1.15, user databases can't be easily unified when using this way)
  • Who do we contact on the french wiki? It seems abandoned for quite a while now...
  • We need someone from the french community to act as admin, since nobody here seems to speak any french at all. Who could that be?
  • What happens to user accounts registered on the french wiki? Keep them? Maybe delete them and enforce reregistration since the accounts haven't been used in quite a while. (what happens to user pages?)
  • Eventually move the images from french wiki to commons too?

From a technical point of view I'd love to do this. So nobody has to bother with that then :) --SirCotare 15:51, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
